Born in Tomé, Chile in 1977, Américo Basualto studied at the School of Fine Arts in Santiago de Chile. He arrived in France in 2015 to pursue his studies in morphology at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He works as an assistant to the Serbian painter Mihael Milunovich, and the Lithuanian sculptor Ruta Jusionyte.
A consummate artist, his work combines oil painting, drawing and sculpture. He draws his inspiration from the real and the imaginary, using memories with a phantasmagorical tension. He is interested in emotions and the human psyche and explores the anguish of man's hopes and fears. Colours and textures become the visual expression of an overflowing and abundant vitality.

​A seulement 23 ans, Catalina Milea a franchi le seuil de la caverne et de là où elle mire le monde, entre veille et sommeil, rêve et réalité, les idées se confondent, se mélangent pour montrer, derrière une confusion apparente, la substance profonde de toute perception humaine : équivoque, relative, perplexe.Montrer la peau par la chair, l’homme par le cœur, la fleur par le sang. En cela elle aussi, à sa façon, est venue pour un discernement.
